I’ve always loved business and entrepreneurship. In elementary school I helped care for the animals on the weekends at my parents' veterinary clinic. I invested the money I earned in gold and silver stocks with the help of my grandpa. At the age of 16, my brother and I had our own firewood business, with two old pick ups and a few chainsaws. In high school I wrote an investment column for the school newspaper. At 17, I was commercial fishing in Alaska. At 21 I bought my first rental house.
After graduating with an accounting degree at the University of Washington, I worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for Moss Adams (a large regional accounting firm). I was focused on small to medium sized businesses in the dealership, manufacturing and construction niches.
After seven years of working with many fascinating small and medium size business clients, I went to work for one of my favorite clients in the energy business. I started as the controller and eventually ran the business as the CEO and partner. Along the way, I’ve teamed up with some of the greatest minds in the legal, financial planning and accounting fields to bring my business and clients advanced tax strategies and planning. My clients have benefited from niche specific, time-tested, advanced strategies. These strategies require planning that usually can't be researched and implemented as part of the hustle to get tax returns filed in the normal course of business. My practice focuses on tax planning and consulting that can save my clients from $10,000 to millions.
